I assisted my team on the UX research process by doing competitive analysis and supporting user testing. I also assisted during the ideation process to create user flows. And Involved myself during the design process by adjusting the prototype and style guide based off on the feedback from our client and users.

Competitive Analysis
During our research phase, the client, my UX Lead, and I wanted to identify and analyze different email communications flow. I observed and took notes as each user looked at an email opt out flow from one of the competitive site and completed tasks using a play test gmail account. The data was important to document as it would be used for a presentation to the stakeholders.

User Flow
During the ideation process, my lead designer and I came up with 2 different scenarios of signage when a user is subscribing or unsubscribing from their marketing communications. We mapped it out by doing a walkthrough as an Anonymous login and Account Holder login. We then presented the flow idea to our client, and after some reiterations we were able to take them into wire-framing and then into design.
Mood Board
After the initial approval of the user flow, I was tasked to create a mood board that would best fit the Disney brand. One of the requirements was that I had to make sure the Permission Center designs compliment the Walt Disney Privacy Center site.

Usability Testing
I took a bigger part during the user testing for the design our team has created. After the designs were approved they were handed off to the User Researchers where we worked together in order to create a script and scenarios to give our users tasks to complete for the prototype. Our team and client attended the user testing in the lab every 2 months where we would watch and take note of their user behaviors with the product.

Style Guide & UI Screens
During the user testing phases, I was able to assist with my UX Lead to re-improve the designs of the prototype. I also took part in updating the guide before handing it off to development. View below to view the Style Guide and Designs.
Challenges - Accessibility Concerns
One of the challenges I had when I was working on the Style Guide was accessibility concerns. During user testing I was informed the checkboxes to subscribe were too small for majority folks to see and thus I had to increase the boxes by a couple of more pixels without interrupting the UI balance. Development had also informed me that the main type color wasn't accessibility compliant so I informed my lead to recommend we darken the color by a few shades while also making sure it contrasts well with the branding. These things are small issues but they are important to note because we are creating a service for all types of users.
What I learned
I'd like to thank my team and Matt Penna for being a great UX Lead and mentor and for helping me navigate my way in this UX project. I've learned a lot about the business side of UX and how to create a clean UI while involving myself in the UX research of the project. This helped broaden my UX skills.
